Response by the EACC to the text on Weiner

The ARTECONTEXTO office has received the following letter in response to Armando Montesinos’s article:

Dear Alicia Murría

I am writing to make a clarification regarding the article by Armando Montesinos entitled The Case of the Fake Lawrence Weiner, published on your magazine’s blog, which mentioned the translation error found in one of the texts of the brochure produced and circulated by the EACC on the occasion of the project by Lawrence Weiner which is currently on show at our Centre.
After speaking with the team of translators who produced this text, I would like to inform you that the mistake was made in the translation. This error (which we are in the process of correcting) appears only in the text published in the brochure. The exhibition project which Lawrence Weiner has proposed for the room at the Espai d’art contemporani in Castelló consists of five sentences in English, Spanish and Valencian, and these do not include the text which prompted the article by Armando Montesinos. In this sense, there is no question that the mistake in the brochure does not impinge on the veracity of the exhibition project on show at the Centre.
